Archive - Jack Hues

Jack HuesBorn Jeremy Allan Ryder on December 10, 1954 in Gillingham, Kent, England. He has a younger brother named Mark, who is an artist. Jack also has a daughter, Violet, and two sons, Harry, and Jack Ryder (b. 21 Sep 1981). Jack Ryder was born in Woolwich in South London, and formerly appeared as the character "Jamie Mitchell" on the weekly BBC smash-hit soap opera series EastEnders in Great Britain and Australia.

Hues began listening early on to the Beatles, then Cream and Jimi Hendrix before being intrigued by the long-form tracks of groups like Yes and Genesis. His next music passion was classical, studying music for three years at London's Goldsmith College before going on to attend the Royal College of Music, studying composition and writing. While there, Jack met his friend (and future Huang Chung member) David Burnand (a.k.a. Hogg Robinson). After one year at the Royal College of Music, Jack left to persue his dreams.....

- Bmus, Goldsmiths College (1973).

- New Wang Chung album in progress (2006).

At one point, Jack owned a beautiful tortoiseshell cat called Chloe. It should be mentioned that Jack doesn't smoke in order to keep his voice in top shape. Jack's favorite food is Italian and he has a weakness for avacados and a GOOD Avacado Vinaigrette. I've also heard he's sick of Chinese food (when they were on tour, the promoters used to ply them with it!). He also likes bungee jumping (or "base jumping"), art, reading, opera, and he listens to classical music before going on stage to get himself in the mood. Although classically trained, he prefers working in the "pop/rock" field because it allows more spontaniety.

At one point, Jack listed a few favorites...

Favorite Groups: Talking Heads, Prefab Sprout, Little Feat, Vienna Philharmonic, Huey Lewis, Joni Mitchell

Favorite Singers: Dietrich Fischer-Diskau (from Germany), Kenneth Riegel (Opera-Tenor), Jessye Norman (Opera)

Favorite Video: Talking Heads - "Once In A Lifetime"

Favorite Films: "Fanny & Alexander" (Swedish; 1982; 3 Hours, 17 Minutes - Ingmar Bergman's Oscar-winning study of life in a family, as seen through the eyes of two children in 1907 Sweden.), "Solaris" (a Tarkovsky film), "To Live and Die In L.A." (a William Friedkin film)
